2009-10 Simcoe Saturdays Poster PDF
2009-10 Simcoe Saturdays Registration Form
Simcoe Saturdays Nutshell Info
Simcoe Saturdays are an educational/social/competitive opportunity for interested individuals aged 6 - 18. (Adult students may be welcomed after our consideration.)
Although dropping in is always an option, those who have signed up for the whole session benefit in many ways: reduced daily fees, reduced entry fees to special events during that session, 1:1 time each week with Yuri (our head instructor), custom puzzles designed to improve the student's game, access to our unique design-and-build-your-own trophy program, and an organizer binder for ribbons, puzzles, etc.
Everyone who participates in a Simcoe Saturdays tournament receives a ribbon acknowledging their placement.
Tournament games are rated with the Canadian Chess'n Math Association (our national scholastic chess association), and the international Chess Express Ratings service (for their helpful report-card like metrics).
The food and drink we provide (2 slices of pizza, or 2 hotdogs, and a drink) are included in our registration fee. Please note that hotdogs and pizza are not served on the same day.
A $10 annual membership is required (Aug 1st - July 31st). We do not pro-rate our annual membership.
We meet at Ferris Lane Community Church, 49 Ferris Lane, Barrie. Time: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tournament results will be published each week in The Barrie Examiner.
One adult from the family of every full-access student is required to volunteer his/her time for one Saturday afternoon during that session to assist in greeting other students, drop-in registrations, and serving the afternoon snack. Executive members buddy with parent volunteers.
