Mall chess is run by friendly, welcoming SCCC members. It is geared toward adult players of all skill levels. The focus is on casual play; however, we will support tournament play if the interest is there. Adult players seeking rated competition with new opponents are encouraged to attend our special event tournaments. The merchants and mall management have been very supportive of this initiative. Be sure to let them know why you're in the mall and show them how much you appreciate their generosity!

We have the interest and support of malls all over Simcoe. And our members are always looking for more players. How about you? Mall chess is free to everyone, once, to try us out. Then a small membership fee is required for further play: $10.00 for the period Aug. 1st to Jul. 31st, and an annual $5.00 insurance contribution for the same period. Boards and pieces are always provided. Members can come as often or as little as they like.

Bayfield Mall. This group meets (most) Monday evenings at Bayfield Mall in Barrie (used to be Wednesdays). There is no chess offered on holiday Mondays, or if conflicts with other mall events occur. Start time is 6:30 p.m. closing is 9:00 p.m. Tables are at the Centre Court intersection (at the base of the escalators in front of Price Choppers). Call Andy (705-735-4077) to confirm the group will play on the night you wish to attend.

Orillia Square Mall. This group meets (most) Tuesday evenings at Orillia Square Mall from September through June. There is no chess offered on holidays, or if conflicts with other mall events occur. Start time is 7:00 p.m. closing is 9:00 p.m. Tables are near the food court. Call Mary (705-323-3430) to confirm the group will play on the night you wish to attend.
