Library Tournaments Nutshell Info We are encouraged by the interest and support of the Collingwood and Orillia Public Libraries as we bring chess to these communities. In each case, the library tournaments are open to players aged 6 - 18, and participants must first join the Simcoe County Chess Club (annual fee: $10, from Aug. 1st to Jul. 31st). The tournaments are rated with the Canadian Chess'n Math Association (our national scholastic chess body), and the international Chess Express Ratings service (for their helpful report-card like metrics). Other than an infrequent "Introduction to Chess" lecture, lessons are not provided at these locations at this time. Please contact Children's Services for more information at the Collingwood Public Library, or the Orillia Public Library. |
