History has shown time and again that any group that depends on only 1 or 2 people is highly vulnerable to change, and lacks stability over time. We've also seen that chess initiatives with a focus that isn't broad enough to include the whole community haven't stood the test of time. We want to learn from our history so that we can have a long-lasting chess community for everyone.

The Simcoe County Chess Club is an incorporated chess club comprised of people who have been working toward establishing and maintaining a permanent chess community here in Simcoe. Our framework is strengthened when other interested people join with us to achieve a greater good. Our club means that you don't have to worry about finding a location to play, an administrator, an organizer, an instructor, or continuity. And you know that our focus will always include our whole chess community.

In 2003 we began with a summer camp, and then our nationally recognized year-round learning program for those aged 6-18 (Simcoe Saturdays). Today, we serve juniors and adults; and after listening to the community, we have an interesting line-up of special events.

If you live in Simcoe County, or central Ontario, and you are interested in chess, you have found the right place to connect with others who are like-minded! We are here for casual and competitive players alike. Young and old. Strong players and . . . . those on their way.
